Management and optimization of the field data collection systems and operation and integrity of the telemetry system, including management, operation, and maintenance of automated data collection and transmission systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with improved systems. Works with vendors on upgrades and/or modifications to the telemetry system, sensors, data loggers, and radio and cellular systems.
- Implementation of advanced, integrated hydrologic data collection and control sites and programming at structure and advanced water quality sites throughout the District, including the development of SOPs.
- Responsible for the operation and integrity of the telemetry system, including management, operation, and maintenance of automated data collection and transmission systems.
- Evaluation and implementation of field deployable data collection sensors, data loggers, and telemetry equipment.
- Implement upgrades to obsolete CR10X and CR510 datalogger sites in the field using established SOPs.
- Conduct discharge monitoring and compute daily record with advanced monitoring equipment as appropriate to field conditions.
- Designs, builds, and tests components to interface the telemetry system with various data sensors.
- Assist with the District agriculture water use reporting and related activities.
- Meets with District and non-District staff to determine requirements for the hydrologic data collection system, and the automated external access to the District's Hydrometeorological data.
- Provides assistance, training and advice for staff on the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of data collection stations and transmission systems.
- Trains data collection staff in new data collection techniques, field equipment and programming software.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
